PICNICS

There are several picnic grounds in the area. Just ask Peter or Louise when you arrive at the park.

Tracks and Trails

There are numerous tracks in the Otway ranges that will lead you to beautiful rainforests, waterfalls and ponds. Click here to see our map which includes just a few. As a sample, take a round trip through Beech Forest (where logging takes place) to Lavers Hill. Divert to Little Aire Falls or Triplet Falls. Meander down the Aire Settlement Road and the old Great Ocean Road to Glenaire. Stop for an ice cream or a coffee. Visit Cape Otway, and take the Blanket Bay Road to Blanket Bay. (maybe include Mait's Rest and also the closer waterfalls - Sheoak, Cumberland, Carisbrook e.g.) The views are unbelievable. Slowly make your way back up the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay. Enjoy a light dinner and drive slowly back to Kennett River as the sun starts to fade behind the Otway ranges and the changing light creates a mystical pattern on the ocean right by your side. A fitting end to another fantastic day.

Kennett River Caravan Park is a great base for all of this exploration. When you arrive home from your fascinating drive, or tremendous trek, our local red, green and blue parrots will meet you to welcome you back, whilst the kookaburras will laugh as you share your memories of the day. A short stroll across to the beach and you can watch the sun set behind the magnificent Otway Ranges and the moon rise over the ocean, while listening to the lulling sound of the waves.

BEACH

The sandy beach is great for relaxing in the sun, swimming in the shallow waters, surfing or fishing.

NATIVE ANIMALS

Feed the Rosellas and King Parrots at our front door, look around the park for koalas or take a short walk to the Angahook - Lorne State Park, up the Grey River Road (next to the park) to view Koalas nestling in the trees. If you're lucky you may see a wallaby hop by, and the kookaburras are very friendly.

SHOPPING

Lorne and Apollo Bay have an array of shops to whet your appetite. Both these destinations have great restaurants and cafes. Visit the many craft and gift stores in both these locations.

GREAT OCEAN ROAD

The scenery along the Great Ocean Road is famous. Come and experience the views. For the more adventurous day trippers, visit the Cape Otway Lighthouse, or have lunch in one of the cafes at Lavers Hill (which overlooks the Southern Ocean). You can see forever on a clear day. Travel to Crows Nest Lookout or Mariners Lookout while at Apollo Bay.

RELAX

Kennett River is a great place to relax and unwind. Sit under a gum tree or lie on the grass. Watch the birds or just listen to the native animals and the mesmerising sound of the ocean waves. Take a short stroll - take a longer stroll. Wet your toes in the river or the ocean.
